26-year-old David Gavin from Castlebar is believed to have drowned after diving off a bridge over the Beaver River in British Columbia on last Friday afternoon.

It is believed he moved to Canada a few months ago for work.

Hundreds of people attended a mass at the Breaffy GAA club last night where prayers were offered for his parents, sister and girlfriend.

A GoFundMe page was set up by the Vancouver Irish Sporting & Social Club to support the search efforts and David's family .
