Kenny seeks banking inquiry guarantee from Cowen and Lenihan

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has called on the Taoiseach and Finance Minister to guarantee they will give evidence to the banking inquiry.

A technical amendment to do with the dates of the inquiry is being debated in the Dáil this morning.

But Enda Kenny says he wants assurances from Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan.

"It is absolutely imperative that we have a clear statement from both the Minister for Finance and the Taoiseach that they will give their evidence in public to this inquiry, whether they are in or out of office when it starts its business," Deputy Kenny said.
