GAA chiefs in Limerick remain confident that they will have filled the county's vacant senior hurling management post within the next month.
But an approach by the Limerick County Board to lure former Clare supremo Ger Loughnane out of retirement to take over from Dave Keane has failed.
County Board Secretary, Jimmy Hartigan confirmed that Loughnane had indicated to board officers that he was not interested in being considered for the vacant post.
Loughnane cited his workload as a primary school principal in Shannon and the time involved in travelling to and from Limerick as his reasons for ruling himself out of the picture.
