Noseda's Icon heading for Arc

Impressive Ladbrokes St Leger winner Sixties Icon is to be supplemented for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 1.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda confirmed the news after discussions with the owners of the colt, Paul and Susan Roy.

Regally bred by Derby winner Galileo out of Oaks winner Love Divine, Sixties Icon finished a five-length seventh in the Derby on only his third career start.

He has improved rapidly since and won the Group Three Gordon Stakes at Goodwood before coasting to a two-and-a-half-length success in the famous Classic at York 10 days ago.

It will cost connections €60,000 to see their pride and joy race against the cream of the current crop and, while Noseda admits it is a bold move, he is very much looking forward to the upcoming test.

“Sixties Icon has come out of the St Leger in good order and will head to the Arc,” confirmed the Shalfleet handler.

“Having discussed it with the owners Paul and Susan Roy, they would very much like to have a tilt at that race.

“He appears in tip-top shape and, while it is a bold move, we will give it a go.”

Sixties Icon is currently a best-priced 16-1 with bet365 for the end-of-season showpiece.
