US Senate invites BP boss to Lockerbie-release hearing
The US Senate has invited the BP boss Tony Hayward to testify at a hearing on the release of the Lockerbie bomber.
Senators are looking at whether the British oil giant influenced Scottish authorities' decision last year to release the Libyan man.
Scotland's First Minister has written to US senators to try to quell the row over the release.
Alex Salmond has made it clear the decision was made on compassionate grounds, and that BP made no representations on the issue.
