Geraghty returns to training with Meath

Former All-Ireland winning captain Graham Geraghty is set to make a shock return to training with the Meath panel tomorrow night at Pairc Tailteann.

Former All-Ireland winning captain Graham Geraghty is set to make a shock return to training with the Meath panel tomorrow night at Pairc Tailteann.

It now seems that Geraghty is back in the fold after having clear the air talks with the Meath players and management last night.

The 34-year-old was immediately dropped from the Royals squad for lashing out at Stephen Sheppard during an internal practice match on June 30. Geraghty reacted angrily to a tackle from fellow panellist Sheppard.

Speculation mounted in recent weeks of Geraghty, who has continued to play his club football for Clann na nGael, making a comeback but his non-appearance at training in the lead-up to last Saturday's qualifier against Fermanagh quelled those rumours.

However, Geraghty is now suddenly back in contention to play in Meath's third round qualifier against Galway in Portlaoise on Saturday after apologising for the incident.

The full-forward played in Meath's last championship meeting with Galway when the sides clashed in the 2001 All-Ireland final. He was in action for Clann na nGael in a junior championship match last night against Longwood.
