Michael Owen has been named in the starting line-up for Newcastle’s Premiership match at Reading tonight.
Owen had been out for 10 months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Sweden at the World Cup finals last summer.
The England striker is making only his 11th start for the Magpies since completing his £17m (€24.9m) switch from Real Madrid in August 2005.
It was his first start since December 2005 and his first start under Magpies boss Glenn Roeder.
