David Elsworth will let the dust settle before making plans for Barshiba after she secured back-to-back wins in the bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock yesterday.
The six-year-old turned in a typically game performance under Hayley Turner to secure the Group Two prize for the second time and Elsworth is keen to have another crack at a Group One before the season is out.
“It was a good day and she’s such a tough and resilient mare,” said the trainer.
“The fast ground suits her and she seems to cope with it better than others.
“After she won at Haydock last year she went and won a Listed race at Newmarket so we might look at that again, but we’ll see.
“I was disappointed last year when she finished fourth in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
“That’s a Group One, but she’s got good Group One form – she was only beaten three lengths by Dar Re Mi and Sariska in the Yorkshire Oaks.
“We might be ambitious and have another go at the Nassau and there is the Yorkshire Oaks again as well.
“We’ll probably throw our hat in the ring for one of those but where we actually end up going, we’ll see.
“Immediately after you’ve had a win you really ought to let the dust settle rather than saying where you’re definitely going. The goalposts keep moving in this game.”
