Fallen comic Michael Barrymore returns to stand-up comedy for the first time in years tonight as he bids to resurrects his career in London's West End.
The entertainer, 51, was dumped by ITV last year following the investigation and inquest into the death of Stuart Lubbock who was found dead in the pool of his mansion.
Barrymore has been unable land a new TV role but made steps towards returning to live performance by appearing in a one-man show in New Zealand earlier this year.
He now begins a series of shows – lasting a total of six weeks – at Wyndhams Theatre in London.
He has revealed little about the show but recently said of his return to the stage: “I’ll be there doing my act and I’ll be judged on my performance.
“I’m going back to my roots. I’ve always been a live performer – I just let a camera get between me and the audience.”
Barrymore is soon to star in a British film called Peaches Manor in which he plays a henchman called Flowers.
