Two further entries were revealed for Saturday’s Agfa UK Hurdle at Sandown after the race was reopened.

Dr Philip Pritchard’s recent Haydock handicap chase winner Ichi Beau and Ron Hodges’ Master Mahogany were the only additions, taking the total number of entries to nine.

Champion Hurdle favourite Detroit City heads the list of possibles and is on course for the race “unless there is a deluge”, according to owner Terry Warner.

Noel Meade will make a decision later in the week regarding Harchibald’s participation, while Christmas Hurdle flop Straw Bear could bid to redeem his reputation in the Listed heat.

Self Defense, who won the race in 2005, could take his chance alongside former Arkle winner Contraband, who would be having his first start for new handler Steve Gollings.

Former Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Arcalis and Roger Brookhouse’s Whispered Promises complete the list of entries at this stage.
