Stephen Kenny is set to be unveiled as Derry City manager today. The former Bohemians manager will take over from caretaker player-boss Peter Hutton, who has been in charge at the Brandywell since Gavin Dykes’ resignation in May.
Despite leading City out of relegation trouble in that period, Hutton had repeatedly stated he was not interested in taking the job on a permanent basis.
Kenny was sacked by Bohemians following their UEFA Cup second-leg home defeat to Estonia’s Levadia Tallinn on July 27.
He could be in charge at his new club for tomorrow night's FAI Cup tie against eircom League leaders Shelbourne at Tolka Park, but is more likely to take a watching brief before easing into his new post ahead of the home league fixture with Cork City on Thursday, August 26.
