Viduka linked to Tottenham

Tottenham have held talks with the agent of Leeds United striker Mark Viduka.

Italian agent Andrea D’Amico revealed he met Spurs chairman Daniel Levy at White Hart Lane to discuss a move for the player.

But D’Amico intimated that the London club were likely to be out-bid by bigger European clubs should the Australian decide to leave Elland Road.

D’Amico told the Press Association: “At the moment it is only interest from Spurs, and there are a lot of clubs in Europe who are interested in Mark.”

The 27-year-old cost Leeds £6million from Celtic in July 2000 but D’Amico reckoned Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle, who is under huge pressure to bring a big name to the club, would not have to pay that much.

He said: “I think the transfer figure would be cheaper than before.”

Viduka still has three years to run on his current contract.

Another of D’Amico’s clients is Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso, who has been linked with a summer switch to Blackburn Rovers.

The Italian is about to enter the final year of his current contract and could therefore be sold if he does not agree a new deal.

Rangers are trying to cut back on costs and Amoruso, who was signed by Walter Smith from Fiorentina in 1997, is one of the higher wage earners at Ibrox.

Earlier in the season Holland international Arthur Numan decided to leave the club after being offered a new deal on reduced terms and Amoruso would be unlikely to take a pay cut to stay if there was a chance of a move to the Barclaycard Premiership.

D’Amico said: “We have some interest from clubs but at the moment nothing special. Blackburn are interested but there have been no developments.”
