Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer has confirmed his participation in the £2.5m (€3.7m) Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth later this month.
The 46-year-old German, a three-time winner of the event, will join Vijay Singh and Ernie Els, ranked second and third in the world, in a field which also includes the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Open champion Ben Curtis, Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie and defending champion Ignacio Garrido.
Langer has been playing on the American PGA Tour, where his highest finish was fourth in the Masters, and this is his first appearance in Europe this year.
His three victories on the West Course at Wentworth came in 1987, 1993 and 1995 and another triumph on May 30 would draw him level with Nick Faldo as the most successful player in the tournament’s history.
