Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and Jose Reyes have won the Barclays manager and player of the month award for August.
Last month the Gunners beat Everton, Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Norwich and are currently top of the Barclays Premiership on goal difference, having scored 16 goals in four games.
Wenger’s side re-wrote history by breaking Nottingham Forest’s 42-match unbeaten run, set by Brian Clough’s men in 1977, with the 3-0 victory over Blackburn.
Spaniard Reyes, who broke the club’s transfer record when signed from Sevilla for £17.5m (€25.6m) last season, has settled in quickly at Highbury.
He is currently joint top scorer in the division alongside team-mate Thierry Henry, on four goals.
Nic Gault, of the Barclays Awards Panel, said: “It has been a great start to the season for Arsene Wenger and Jose Reyes.
“Arsenal have bagged 16 goals in four games with Reyes getting four and they currently sit top of the Barclays Premiership.
“The Gunners have started the new season where they left off, and have done all of this without talismanic captain Patrick Vieira – a very impressive month.”
