Glenn Hoddle is using a sports psychologist to get the best out of his Southampton team.
Hoddle courted controversy during his reign as England manager through his use of faith healer Eileen Drewery, but this time she is not involved.
Instead, Hoddle has called upon sports psychologist John Syer who he worked with at Tottenham.
Saints captain Jason Dodd told the Evening Standard: "The biggest change for us has been the meetings which John Syer chairs.
"He will get the back four together, then the midfield and then the strikers and encourage us all to talk about issues we are not happy about on the pitch.
"These are intended to clear the air and make sure we all understand what our jobs are. It means we can get anything off our chests.
"If I am unhappy about Dean Richards not covering me in certain areas of the pitch I can tell him what I expect from him and vice-versa.
"He also looks after the foreign players at the club and makes sure they are all happy with things.
"All this communication has been vital for us. So has the change in training procedures and in the way the squad now prepare for matches."
Dodd confirmed Drewery's name has not even been mentioned by Hoddle during his year in charge.
He added: "Glenn has never asked any of us to go and see her as far as I'm aware or even spoken of his beliefs.
"He has only spoken of his footballing beliefs to us, and they seem to be working quite well on their own."
Syer, former national coach and director of the Scottish Volleyball Association, has also worked with cyclists including Chris Boardman and American football side Cleveland Browns.
