St Patrick’s Athletic 0 Bohemians 1
A hotly disputed penalty led to Bohemians maintaining their super form to maintain their push for the Airtricity League Premier Division title today.
The win means the champions have stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games in the league and looks set to see the title race now go to the last game of the season.
The main talking point of the game at Richmond Park came on 21 minutes when Saints’ defender Noel Haverty was somewhat harshly adjudged to have knocked over Killian Brennan inside the box and referee Richie Winter awarded a penalty.
But the drama remained as Chris Bennion parried Brennan’s poor spot kick. But the lively Raff Cretaro followed up to blast home the rebound.
Cretaro then hit the bar before the break as Bohs shaded the first half.
But Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the second and Vinny Faherty crashed a volley off the Bohs bar.
Bohs had keeper Barry Murphy to thank late on as he made super stops from Ryan Guy and then brilliantly from substitute Sean Stewart right at the death.
