Government TD calls for cut in pay for semi-state CEOs

A Fianna Fáil TD believes that the salaries of all CEOs of semi-state bodies should be cut.

A Fianna Fáil TD believes that the salaries of all CEOs of semi-state bodies should be cut.

It comes as a review, ordered by the Minister for Finance, continues into what semi-State bosses are paid.

Deputy Chris Andrews says the wages that some of these CEOs, including the head of the ESB Padraig Mc Manus, are earning is "not acceptable".

Mr Mc Manus earned 750,000 last year, more than three times the salary than the Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
