Leinster Schools “Reserves” 14 v 12 Gloucester Schools
Leinster sealed a narrow but deserved 14-12 victory over Gloucester Schools at Stradbrook today.
A first half brace from Presentation Bray centre Jonathan Harris-Wright sealed a deserved victory over a brave Gloucester side who made the hosts fight tooth and nail for the honours.
In windy conditions, Leinster found their groove with scrum-half and captain Rudy Vij, following the late withdrawal of King’s Hospital’s Shane Young, particularly impressive in the opening exchanges.
Gloucester got their rewards for a decent second half display with a try from substitute Jack Adams as he glided past Kearney in the 64th minute, though Hughes missed the conversion.
Later Gloucester scrum-half Ward took a quick penalty and released Mansbridge who raced clear to touch down after a 40-yard break, which Hughes converted to give Leinster a narrow 14-12 lead.
But Leinster held on for the win.
