Shortage of Euro tickets for Irish supporters after minimum allocation

There is a widespread shortage of tickets for Ireland's next Euro 2016 qualifying game, after the FAI was allocated the minimum number by their Scottish counterparts.

In a statement this evening, the FAI said it had been allocated only 5% - or 3,209 - of the available seats by the Scottish Football Association for the game on November 14 at Parkhead.

The FAI had requested a larger allocation, saying that demand for tickets was four times higher than the current supply.

"It is particularly disappointing that the Scottish FA is continuing to sell tickets on its website after they had told us that the match was sold out," a spokesperson for the FAI said.

1,700 tickets from available pool were allocated to supporters clubs, season ticket holders, Club Ireland members (a premium membership option) and "known away supporters". A further 700 tickets went to local clubs and leagues for distribution.

The remaining tickets were divided between contractual obligations with tour operators and sponsors, and FAI personnel including team management.

"We continue to call on the SFA to provide adequate numbers of seats for Irish supporters, and in the meantime will strive to find remedies for ticketless supporters where possible," the association said.
