A serving garda is to stand trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court later this year charged with disclosing the contents of a confidential report.

A serving garda is to stand trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court later this year charged with disclosing the contents of a confidential report.

Detective Sergeant Robert McNulty (49), of The Close, Boden Park, Rathfarnham, has pleaded not guilty to the allegation that on a date between July 10 and August 10, 2006, he disclosed the contents of the draft report of a Commission of Investigation into the charging of Dean Lyons, a homeless heroin addict, with two murders he did not commit.

Judge Martin Nolan set a trial date in December of this year and remanded him on continuing bail.
