Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny visited the National Ploughing Championships in Co Laois today to gauge reaction to his call for a visit to Ireland by EU Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler.
Yesterday, Mr Kenny called on Mr Fischler to explain to Irish farmers the details of his proposed reform of the Common Agriculture Policy.
The Fine Gael leader said this reform, which is being opposed by the Irish Government, could be crucial to the way farmers vote in the forthcoming Nice Treaty referendum.
