Sinn Fein has accused the Irish government of trying to blame republicans for the hold-up in reform of the RUC.

Sinn Fein has accused the Irish government of trying to blame republicans for the hold-up in reform of the RUC.

Sinn Fein deputy leader Pat Doherty said the government here is lying about its position on policing in the North.

In an unusually direct criticism, Mr Doherty said Dublin is trying to shift the blame from the British government to his party, actions he described as "dishonest and untrue".

"We've been working hard on this issue and we want to see a genuine new beginning to policing," he said.
