Derby-winning jockey Alan Munro will find out next week if he can resume his career as a jockey after visiting a specialist on Tuesday.
Dr Oliver Foster will send his report to the British Horseracing Authority's chief medical advisor Dr Michael Turner, who will then decide if Munro can think about getting back in the saddle.
Munro has been sidelined for a year after suffering convulsions on a flight to Deauville to ride Dutch Art in the Prix Morny.
His time out of the saddle has cost him high-profile victories on the likes of Sergeant Cecil, Dutch Art and the Derby winner Authorized.
"It's up to Dr Turner to say when Alan can come back, if indeed he says he can come back," said Munro's agent Laura Way.
"We are hopeful, but all we can do now is just wait, as it will be in Dr Turner's hands.
"Hopefully Dr Turner will have the specialist's report by the beginning of next week, so we might know his decision in a week or so. If Alan can come back, fitness wouldn't be a barrier, as he was doing his karate all the time he was in China," Way told the Racing Post.
