The Taoiseach had a rocky start to the new year after an American radio producer hung up on him.

Enda Kenny tried to call his friend and fellow Mayo man DJ Adrian Flannely, who presents a show popular with Irish emigrants.

Producer Aine Sheridan thought the call was a hoax, and hung up the phone.

When Enda Kenny was eventually put through to the show, the Taoiseach said he hoped to visit Boston, Chicago and Washington DC this year.
