A new Red C Poll for the Farmers Journal out this evening reveals that 60% of farmers plan on voting for Fine Gael.
Fianna Fáil are on 19%, Independents are on 10%, Labour are on 5% as are Sinn Féin with the Greens on 1%.
Meanwhile, the third leaders debate of General Election 2011 is to be aired tonight in a day dominated by the fallout of the latest poll.
Enda Kenny has said he is not sure whether Labour's latest attack on Fine Gael smacks of "panic or desperation" as support for Eamon Gilmore’s party slides a point to 23%.
Labour struck back with newspaper ads based on the TESCO tagline "Fine Gael, Every Little Hurts".
The advertisement highlights proposed VAT hikes, water and car tax hikes, a levy on wine and the cut in child benefit.
Enda Kenny has said the ads are misleading, but Labour’s Eamon Gilmore said Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil "are not being straight with voters about the economy".
The economy will once again loom large in TG4's debate pre-recorded earlier but aired at 7pm tonight with English sub-titles.
