Teams wait on Northern Bank Towns' Cup draw

The draw for the semi-finals of the Northern Bank Towns' Cup will be made tomorrow.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Northern Bank Towns' Cup will be made tomorrow.

The semi-finals will be contested by Ards, Coleraine, Bangor and Rainey following last weekend's quarter-final action.

Ards and Coleraine, both in an intense battle for the Qualifying One League title, will be hoping to avoid each other when the semi-final draw is made in Belfast tomorrow.

Both clubs had impressive victories on Saturday.

Mervyn Tweed's Ards side romped to a 30-0 victory over Enniskillen. Stuart Paul opening the scoring with two penalties and when Simon Devoy and David Dillon (2) gave the home side complete control with touchdowns before the interval, with Paul converting two for a 25-0 lead.

A try by Stephen Gardiner two minutes after the restart extended the home side's lead before the match was finished earlier at Enniskillen's request when a injury to their prop left them unable to contest scrums.

Ricky Huey's Coleraine side had an equally impressive 61-10 victory over City of Derry at Judge's Road.

Stephen Patterson, Benjy Van der Byl (2) and Robbie Miller all scored tries before the break for a 24-3 advantage at the break.

The second period brought no relief to the home side, with Neil Beddow (2), a second for Miller, Johnny Kirkpatrick and Shaun McCurdy bringing the visitors' try tally to nine.

Elsewhere, Rainey were made to work hard for their 26-13 victory over Omagh.

Omagh had taken the lead with an Ashley Blair penalty and, after Rainey had taken control with tries by Adrian Millar and Paul Stewart, battled back to trail 16-13 before a further touchdown and penalty by Jerome McMurray sealed the victory.

Niall Malone's Bangor side also made it through to the last four with a 34-5 defeat of Limavady at Upritchard Park.
