The financials led an end of week slump as the ISEQ fell back 54.62 to close at 5,681.89.
AIB shed 16c to close at €13.67, Anglo Irish closed down 9c at €15.01, while Bank of Ireland lost 11c to €10.75.
Irish Life & Permanent was the hardest hit, falling back 30c, or 2.22%, to €13.20.
Building materials group CRH followed the downward trend, shedding 33c to close at €18.70.
Stock in pharmaceutical group Elan continued to rise this morning, but fell back later in the day, losing 8c to €20.20.
Elan today announced that it is to sell $850m (€665.7m) in senior fixed rates notes, due in 2011, and senior floating rate notes, also due in 2011.
