A young woman has died after being stabbed at a house in Cahir, Co Tipperary, early this morning.

A young woman has died after being stabbed at a house in Cahir, Co Tipperary, early this morning.

Gardaí were called to the scene at Ballynamuddagh, near Grange, just after 12.30am, where they found two the woman and a man with stab wounds.

Both were taken to hospital in Clonmel, where the woman was pronounced dead.

The man, who is believed to be her brother, has since been transferred to Cork University Hospital for further treatment.

A suspect has been arrested and is being questioned by gardaí in Cahir.

The scene has also been preserved pending a full technical examination.
