Taoiseach Enda Kenny will receive an honorary doctorate at Boston College next Monday.
The event, which marks the 150th anniversary of the college, will take place in the college football stadium, with an attendance of more than 20,000.
He has also been invited to give the commencement address to over 3,000 students of the graduating class of 2013.
Earlier that morning, the Taoiseach will be a guest at a business breakfast event where he will promote Ireland as an excellent location for trade, business and investment.
Today he attends a function at the JFK Library to commemorate the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s 1963 visit to Ireland, at which he will address an audience of politicians and business people on the strength of US-Ireland relations.
Tomorrow he will lay a wreath at the memorial to those killed or injured in the Boston Marathon bombing.
The Taoiseach will also visit the memorial at Copley Square during his US visit.
