A new report out this morning reveals the state of knowledge on Ireland's biodiversity.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre audit found that Ireland is currently home to over 31,000 different species.

However, scientists estimate that there are at least 7,000 species of organisms and fungi that have yet to be discovered.

The goods and services provided by biodiversity are estimated to contribute €2.6bn per year to the economy.

Director of the National Biodiversity Data Centre, Dr Liam Lysaght has said there is huge growth potential in this sector.
