A three-storey, four-bedroom house has gone on sale in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania – nearly three decades after starring in seminal thriller and Oscar Winner The Silence of the Lambs.

A little way outside Pittsburgh, 8 Circle Street doubled as the home of fictional serial killer Buffalo Bill, and hosted some of cinema’s tensest scenes, as Bill played cat and mouse with FBI agent Clarice Starling.

The perfect place to have an old friend for dinner, the exterior of the house looks almost identical to that seen in the movie, though prospective buyers will be pleased to note the basement is now free of pits, lotions and baskets.

Inside the front door lies the foyer in which Buffalo Bill was quizzed by police, backed by a grand bannister and elaborate chandelier, with hardwood floors and antique furniture. The home was once the town’s train station and post office, and also contains a pool, three-car garage, gazebo, fountain and rose garden.

Despite its grizzly overtones, the house is proud of its history, and the property’s video tour includes shots of a Silence Of The Lambs movie poster, a battered copy of the original book by Thomas Harris, and a television playing some of the more iconic scenes.

The 1991 film starred Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, and Ted Levine as Buffalo Bill, and remains one of only three movies to have won each of the ‘Big Five’ academy awards (best picture, actor, actress, director, and screenplay), alongside It Happened One Night (1934), and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975).

The listing is being sold by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices duo Eileen Allan and Shannon Assad, commonly known by their tagline ‘The Sisters Sold It’, and has a current asking price of $298,500.

“With everything the home offers AND ties to the classic horror film,” reads the listing, “this iconic property would make for an amazing Airbnb.”
