French developer Sandfall Interactive swept the Game Awards on Thursday night, breaking the record for the most wins at the annual celebration of games.
The studio based in Montpellier, won nine awards for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG, including Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and the all-important Game of the Year crown.
The show, which took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, was hosted by Canadian presenter Geoff Keighley and recognised the best gaming had to offer in 2025, along with new game announcements.
Other award winners included Hades II, which won Best Action Game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, which won Best Action/Adventure Game and Donkey Kong Bananza from Nintendo, which won Best Family Game.

The Game Changer award was given to the organisation Girls Make Games, which supports girls to pursue careers in the video game industry.
Along with awards, there were some big announcements, including Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the original game and a brand-new game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst set for release in 2027.
Two new Star Wars games were announced, including Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic and Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
Other announcements included the sequel to the critically acclaimed action-adventure game Control from Remedy and Divinity, the next role-playing game from 2023 Game of the Year winner Larian Studios.
Finally, Capcom announced the long-awaited return of Megaman with Mega Man: Dual Override, an action platformer set for release in 2027.
