Met Éireann say yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far.

23.1 degrees was recorded at Newport Furnace in County Mayo, while similar high temperatures were seen at Shannon Airport and Phoenix Park in Dublin.

The warm spell is set to continue this week, with temperatures expected to reach 18 degrees today.

Ireland's meteorological service says it will be warm & mainly dry today with good sunny spells in many areas.

Becoming somewhat cloudier in western coastal counties with drizzle possible near coasts at times, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees generally, a little cooler along the south coast.
