Tuesday's front pages focus on a range of stories from President Higgins criticising the EU Commission president's 'reckless' approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict to an internal row breaking out over the health budget.

The Irish Times reports that President Michael D Higgins has criticised Ursula von der Leyen’s approach towards the Israel-Hamas conflict as “thoughtless and even reckless” as national leaders convene an emergency meeting to take a grip on the European Union’s discordant response.

The Irish Examiner lead with a piece about an internal row erupting in the government over the health service's budget crisis, with Tánaiste Micheál Martin defending the health minister from a flurry of criticism by Fine Gael members.

The Echo focusses on the proposed strike action by agency healthcare and social workers as talks continue to try to solve the issue.

In the UK, the papers on Tuesday feature the British Prime Minister’s call for Hamas to release the hostages it took in its attack on Israel.

The Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, Metro and The Times all lead with Rishi Sunak’s comments after he said six Britons were killed and 10 remain missing, including two teenage sisters.
