Varadkar: No mistakes in Budget

The Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar says he does not believe there are any mistakes in the budget.

It follows comments by the Junior Finance Minister Brian Hayes yesterday, who said that if the Government has gotten something wrong in the budget, then it will be reversed.

The coalition is under pressure over its decision to cut the respite care grant.

But Minister Varadkar says the budget is a package of measures and there are no mistakes.

“I don’t think there are. Anyone can pick out an issue with the Budget but it’s a package of measures and is effective.

“It has to add up to €3.5bn, unlike counter proposals from the opposition. And also, it is fair.”
