Former world heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe has been arrested and charged with assaulting his wife.
He hit her on the side of the head when she tried to leave their luxury Long Island home.
Bowe, 34, was already facing a 30-day jail sentence following a 1998 incident involving his wife, Judy.
Long Island police say the couple got into an argument: "Mr Bowe struck Mrs Bowe in the side of the head by her left ear.
"She ran out, he chased out after her, grabbed her and dragged her back in the house.
"When she called the police, Mr Bowe left the scene."
He was arrested three hours later in his sports car.
Bowe's wife was released from hospital after treatment.
He won world heavyweight title with unanimous decision over champion Evander Holyfield in November 1993 but lost it in a rematch a year later.
In 1996, Bowe was fined £170,000 because members of his entourage caused a riot at New York's Madison Square Garden after opponent Andrew Golota was disqualified for repeated low blows.
