A teenage girl is to go on trial at the Dublin Children's Court for an alleged attack on an eight-year-old boy.

The girl (aged 15) is accused of assaulting the boy, contrary to Section Two of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act, in Crumlin, in south Dublin, on a date last November.

Judge Ann Ryan heard today that the girl was contesting the allegations.

State solicitor Kevin Ennis said that the injured party in the case was aged eight and may give his evidence via video-link.

Judge Ryan adjourned the case for one week when a date for the hearing will be set.
