Nine hundred lives could be saved across Europe every year if car manufacturers put seat belt reminders in the front and rear of all cars, according to a European Transport Safety Council.
Their report, issued this morning, says that drink-driving and inappropriate speed are still contributing to thousands of deaths on European roads.
It says all European council member states should consider introducing a zero tolerance approach for drink-driving for all drivers, and recommends that 1 in 5 motorists should be checked each year.
