A woman in her 70s has died after a road collision involving a jeep in Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating the incident which occurred shortly before 7am on Thursday on Ballinteer Avenue, Ballinteer.

The woman, who was a pedestrian, was taken to St James’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported, gardaí said, and Ballinteer Avenue has reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who have camera or dashcam footage and were travelling in the area between 6.40am and 7am are asked to make the footage available to investigating officers.
