Government and the Opposition have agreed to delay any motion of censure against Independent TD Mick Wallace.
It had been expected that an all-party motion would be agreed today in the wake of his admission last week that his company knowingly made false VAT declarations to the Revenue Commissioners.
However, party whips have this afternoon decided to wait until a meeting of the members interests committee, which takes place tomorrow.
That could launch an inquiry into whether the Wexford TD has made any effort to pay his €2.1m bill with revenue since becoming a TD last year.
Earlier this afternoon, Fianna Fáil whip Sean O'Fearghail said that his party will table the motion if the others failed to do so.
"If either of those groups fail to do so, Fianna Fáil will bring the censure motion forward," he said.
