Met Éireann has issued an orange rain warning which came into effect for three counties on Monday morning.
The warning for Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow began at 7am and will last until 12pm. The forecaster said intense rainfall is likely with flooding in places.
It comes follows a yellow rain warning for the entire country ahead of heavy rain on Sunday night and into Monday.
The yellow warning for all counties in the Republic began at 3am on Monday and will remain in place until 8pm.

There will be a wet start to Monday with heavy or thundery rain, especially in the southeast, along with fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds.
Outbreaks of rain will continue across most places into the afternoon with further flooding expected.While a gradual clearance will develop in the southwest and west, heavy showers will follow the rain.
Tuesday will see scattered outbreaks of rain, mainly across the north and northeast earlier in the day, and later across the southwest. There will be longer drier spells in parts, with some patchy sunshine.
