More than 130 settle for €22m in tax defaults

Four people have made settlements of more than a million euro with Revenue for defaulting on tax.

Four people have made settlements of more than a million euro with Revenue for defaulting on tax.

The biggest settlement of more than €2.1m was with Midland Contractors Limited from Courtown in Kells, which is in liquidation.

Company Director and Landlord Brendan O'Connor from Kilbride in Enniscorthy, the Orthopaedic Bed Company Limited in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, and Barry and Sons - based at Fashion City in Ballymount, Dublin - all made settlements of more than €1m.

In the 3-month period to the end of June, 136 people settled for a total of €22.62m.

Of the 136 published cases, 59 were for amounts in excess of €100,000 and seven were for more than €500,000.
