Met Éireann has issued a low temperature warning for eight counties before milder air is set to bring a return of wet and windy conditions.
The low temperature and ice warning covers Connacht, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath on Monday night.
Met Éireann said it will be very cold in these areas, dropping to -4 degrees Celsius in places. Frost and ice could lead to potentially hazardous driving conditions and animal welfare issues.
The alert comes into place from 6pm on Monday until 10am on Tuesday.

The national forecaster said there will be a transition from cold, mainly dry weather to milder conditions later in the week.
Low pressure will begin to dominate, bringing spells of wet and windy weather at times from Wednesday onwards.
