Man rescued after fall from Rosslare ferry

A man has been rescued after falling overboard from a ferry off Rosslare in Co Wexford.

It happened at around 6.20pm this evening.

Rosslare Coastguard and RNLI lifeboat were tasked, along with the coastguard helicopter based in Waterford.

An Irish Ferries spokesman said another ferry owned by the company, the Isle of Innisfree which was heading into Rosslare at the time, rescued him.

A spokesman added: “He was rescued successfully. We put the helicopter up and lifeboat out.”

He said the man was taken to Wexford General Hospital.

“He would not be in great shape but he was alive. He was cold and hypothermic.”
