A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of a father of two in a shooting in Dublin over five years ago.
Robert Sheridan (45) suffered fatal gunshot wounds to his head and body after opening the door of his home at Poppintree Crescent, Ballymun, shortly after 11pm on October 4th, 2018.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, but he was pronounced dead just over an hour after the incident.
Investigating gardaí arrested Joseph Richards (32), of Lanesborough Square, Finglas, Dublin 11, in connection with Mr Sheridan's death.
He appear before Judge William Aylmer at Dublin District Court on Tuesday.
Garda Neil Cotter gave evidence of arrest, telling the court he charged Mr Richards with the murder of Mr Sheridan.
Mr Richards, who is yet to indicate a plea, was held in custody on remand and will appear in court again next week.
Prosecutors must complete a book of evidence and serve it on him before the District Court grants a return for trial order, sending the case forward to the Central Criminal Court.
Legal aid was granted, and solicitor Simon Fleming was nominated to represent the accused.
An inquest into Mr Sheridan’s death has been adjourned pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
