A man, aged in his late 40s, has died following a shooting at a house in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal shooting incident that occurred early this morning at a house in the Thomond Road area of Ballyfermot.

A man, aged in his late 40s, was discovered having received a number of gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s body has been removed to the City Morgue, Whitehall where a postmortem will be conducted this afternoon by State Pathologist Margot Bolster.

The scene in Ballyfermot remains preserved this afternoon as the Garda Technical Bureau carries out its examination.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) in relation to this incident to come forward. In particular, anyone who may have been in the Thomond Road, Landen Road, Kylemore Road or the general Decies area between 3.30am – 5.30am this morning, Sunday, January 9th.
