A man has been arrested by gardaí investigating alleged online threats against public representatives.
The man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested for an alleged offence contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
He is being detained at a Garda station in the west of the country under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1948.
Gardaí said no further information is being made available at this time.
