Lenihan open to idea of Anglo wind-down

The Finance Minister has today admitted for the first time that he is open to persuasion on a wind-down of Anglo Irish Bank.

The Finance Minister has today admitted for the first time that he is open to persuasion on a wind-down of Anglo Irish Bank.

It has been the Government's case that it will cost more to close the now nationalised bank than to keep it running.

Brian Lenihan told the Dáil that he is still opposed to a quick closure, but is considering whether a wind-down or turning Anglo into a 'good bank' would work.
