People in Ireland have taken to Google search this week to seek the answers to a variety of concerns related to Covid-19.

Searches mentioning travel, vaccines and home-schooling topped the search engine’s trends.

One of the most-asked questions in Ireland this week was “Is it safe to travel to Spain right now?” while people also searched “Reasons to travel during lockdown?” 950 per cent more than the week before.

The number of times Google was asked "Are takeaways still open?" was up 300 per cent on last week, while “Is it safe to go shopping?” was another frequently asked question.

How to do algebra

Those struggling with home-schooling sought assistance with maths, as google searches of “How to do algebra?” increased by 450 per cent.

People also sought to find out when they would be vaccinated against Covid-19, as searches for “When will I get a vaccine?” were up 650 per cent in the past week.

Other trending questions on the search engine included “How to avoid the new Covid variant?” and “Why is the new variant more transmissible?”
