Aer Lingus has warned Irish passengers travelling through Heathrow Airport in London to expect delays due to a strike by British Airways staff.
The company has grounded all its flights until 6pm as a result of the surprise strike, which began when a catering firm sacked 600 workers after an unofficial stoppage earlier this week.
Some Aer Lingus flights were delayed last night as a result of the chaos caused by the industrial action, but the Irish airline said services into Heathrow from Dublin, Cork and Shannon were operating normally this morning.
However, it has warned passengers that they could face serious delays if they are transferring onwards from the London airport.
Spokesman Dick Butler said: "We have been requested by British Airways not to check passengers through into their system.
"All I can say to anybody who's travelling to connect with BA is to either check with BA or not to travel at the moment."
